Health trainers
Health Trainers based at the centre are employed by Northumberland Care Trust and work with individual clients on a one to one basis to support changes in their lifestyle behaviours such as diet and exercise. NHS Health Trainers are here to help you make the right choices.
The Health Trainer can give you information and advice on:
- Healthy Eating
- Reducing Stress
- Stopping Smoking
- Reducing Alcohol
- Increasing Physical Activity
Health Trainers will:
- Talk to you on a one to one basis about your lifestyle
- Help identify ways of improving your lifestyle
- Help you to plan and carry out these changes
- Provide literature and give information on a wide range of issues
- Introduce you to an exercise or activity class
- Offer encouragement and support
- Do blood pressure/carbon monoxide readings
- Measure your height and weight
- Attend groups and deliver healthy eating courses
- Signpost you to other services
Health Trainers will not:
- Give you counselling
- Diagnose or treat medical conditions
- Deliver physical activity or therapy sessions
- Provide advice to under 16s
- Do home visits
